Hosting

The site is served from an OVHcloud virtual private server located in Strasbourg, France, inside a container managed by Coolify. The map's database lives on that same machine: the data does not leave France.

Intellectual property

The GISFire interface, its presentation, its texts and its illustrations are protected. Reproducing or imitating them requires written permission.

The data on display, by contrast, remains the property of its producers and follows their respective licences: NASA FIRMS, NASA GIBS, Open-Meteo, EOX, CARTO, OpenStreetMap, adsb.lol. The detail is on the page credits, sources and limits (in French).

What the service is

GISFire is a free information service, with no advertising and no account to create. It is not an alerting tool: satellite detections arrive several hours late, the satellites only come back two to four times a day, and a fire can therefore start, spread and be put out without ever appearing on the map.

In an emergency, rely on the competent authorities and on official instructions, never on this map. What the tool does and does not do is described on the page about.

Personal data

The site asks for no account, offers no form and accepts no file upload. What is nevertheless recorded, audience measurement and server logs, is described in the privacy policy.
